Thick Caramel Sauce

Yum — thick caramel sauce pairs perfectly with pumpkin desserts (or anything, really 😋). Here’s a classic thick caramel sauce recipe that turns out glossy, rich, and spoonable — not runny!


🍯 Thick Homemade Caramel Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • ½ cup heavy cream, at room temperature
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt (optional, for salted caramel)

Instructions:

  1. Melt the sugar:
    • Add sugar to a heavy saucepan over medium heat.
    • Stir constantly with a heat-resistant spatula or whisk.
    • The sugar will clump, then melt into a thick amber liquid.
  2. Add the butter:
    • Once sugar is fully melted and golden, add butter carefully (it will bubble!).
    • Stir until butter is fully incorporated — about 1–2 minutes.
